Chinese-backed residential developer Dahua Group has announced its second masterplanned community project in the Sydney south-west growth area of Menangle Park worth $1.5 billion.
The 364-hectare site at Menangle Road and Cummins Road, which will yield 4000 lots on completion, is open for registration.
The new community or “parkland town”, 65 kilometres south-west of Sydney CBD, will also feature a new town centre, education, health, sports and community infrastructure and parklands.
“In line with our ongoing support for the Campbelltown-Macarthur community, our team have taken into account the vision of the locals and have aimed to redefine the area, without tarnishing any of its history,” Dahua’s NSW and Queensland chief executive Eric Li said.
“The focus has been on creating an active, engaged, walkable neighbourhood as well as a community that provides its residents with a range of considered opportunities, including education, retail, hospitality, entertainment, commercial, employment, as well as community amenities.”
Dahua’s design will reflect the history of the area, previously used for rural and agricultural purposes. There will be walking and cycling tracks, picnic and barbecue facilities and outdoor fitness stations.
Dahua’s first Sydney house and land community project was the New Breeze master planned community in Bardia, also in Sydney’s southwest but 25 kilometres closer to the CBD. The smaller 88-hectare site yields 1280 lots, with 750 lots already sold for about $340 million.
With demand for housing, particularly house and land lots, continuing to grow as Sydney spreads out, developers are staking hectares of greenfield land in the south-west.
Dahua also has many land sites in Melbourne including the 191-hectare Riverhills Estate in the city’s northern suburb of Wollert.
