Dahua recently joined with Campbelltown City Council to fund the construction of a new Sensory Playground at Mary Brooksbank School. Established in 1987, Mary Brooksbank School has offered education programs for students with special needs across Macarthur Region since then. 109 Students from Kindergarten to year 12 all of whom have a moderate or severe intellectual disability.

Mayor of Campbelltown, George Brticevic initiated the funding program for construction of a new sensory playground for the school. The proposed playground will contain equipment to provide vestibular input and sensory safe play areas to meet the needs of all students. A range of different textures will be used in the playground, so students will be able to feel under their bare feet and to touch with their hands and body.

Mr. Brticevic said: “The teachers and families pour their hearts and souls into providing the children at Mary Brooksbank with a positive and supportive environment at school and at home. I’m a strong believer that every child deserves to be able to play and learn in a safe and comfortable environment.”

He added, “Supporting initiatives that focus on quality education such as providing a suitable playground for the school, is an ideal way to help both individuals and the community.”

$57,000 has been raised through the virtual Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner to help Mary Brooksbank School build this new inclusive playground.
