Works have begun on a huge housing development which will see thousands of new residents moving into Menangle Park.
Dahua Group Australia officially kicked off the first stage of construction for its new development on October 1.
Stage one will see the construction of 255 lots.
Dahua Group Australia NSW/QLD chief executive Eric Li said the beginning of this phase was a big step for everyone involved in the masterplanned community.
“At Dahua Group Australia we are committed to developing communities that will stand the test of time, creating memorable experiences and a vibrant sense of place for local residents, workers and the broader community,” he said.
Dahua’s associate director of development, Robert Fischer, said civil contractors JKW were appointed break ground on stage one.
He expects construction to begin on the first homes within 12 months, and to see the first residents moving in within 18 months.
“This is a regionally significant project that will unlock housing opportunities, commercial and community development, in addition to employment opportunities, supporting growth in this region for both current and future residents,” he said.
Once fully complete, the $1.5 billion project will hold more than 4000 homes. It is set to also feature a town centre, on-site childcare facility and primary school.
Dahua has promised 41 hectares of ‘usable open space’. This includes local and district parks, walking trails, sports fields and bicycle tracks.
Mr Li told theĀ AdvertiserĀ in 2018 that the company wanted to create a community that was respectful of the surrounding area.
“In line with our ongoing support from the Campbelltown and Macarthur community, our team have taken into account the vision of the locals and have aimed to redefine the area whilst preserving its history and culture,” he said,” he said at the time.
“The focus has been on creating an active, engaged, walkable neighbourhood as well as a community that provides its residents with a range of considered opportunities including education, retail, hospitality, entertainment, commercial, employment, as well as community amenities.”
Dahua purchased the Menangle Park land from Campbelltown Council and UrbanGrowthNSW back in 2016.
The developers are also responsible for the New Breeze estate in Bardia.
